Antibodies against cardiolipin are an important criterion for the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). The Anti-Cardiolipin ELISAs by ORGENTEC are the perfect tests for the detection of these diagnostically important auto- antibodies.
In cases of APS, the detected cardiolipin anti- bodies may belong to all three immunoglobulin classes. The Anti-Cardiolipin Screen makes possible the semi-quantitative detection of IgG, IgM, and IgA autoantibodies against cardiolipin. The Anti-Cardiolipin IgG/IgM test detects IgG and/or IgM autoantibodies; Anti-Cardiolipin IgA permits the isolated detection of IgA class autoantibodies.
Cardiolipin antibodies are also an ACR immunological classification criterion for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In addition, their quantitative detection is very useful for monitoring SLE patients with secondary APS.
