Anti-Parietal Cell

Anti-Parietal Cell is an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against the H+/K+-ATPase of parietal cells in human serum or plasma.

This enzyme transports hydrogen ions into the stomach lumen, regulating the acidic pH value. ELISA test systems for parietal cell antigen are distinguished by their high sensitivity and specificity. Circulating autoantibodies against H+/K+-ATPase are found in 80 to 90 % of patients with pernicious anaemia; however, they are also detected in 2 to 5 % of healthy individuals. In general, parietal cell autoantibodies are found more frequently in older people than in younger ones.
