Anti-Jo-1

Anti-Jo-1 is an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against Jo-1 in human serum or plasma.

Autoantibodies against the Jo-1 antigen (histidyl-tRNA synthetase), which is one of the extractable nuclear antigens (ENA), are an accepted, highly specific marker for idiopathic myositis. The diagnostic sensitivity of Anti-Jo-1 detection for idiopathic myositis in adults is as high 30 %, for polymyositis it is up to 46 %. In cases of juvenile myositis, on the other hand, antibodies against Jo-1 are rare. Their diagnostic specificity for autoimmune myositis is nearly 100 %. Anti-Jo-1 antibodies are absent in cases of neuromuscular disease without myositis.
