The Anti-ssDNA ELISA by ORGENTEC is a quantitative test for IgG class autoantibodies against single-stranded DNA (ssDNA). This assay is used for the serological detection of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and drug-induced lupus.

The antibody titres correlate with the activity level of the disease: in the serum of SLE patients, ssDNA antibodies are found 87 % of the time during acute attacks of the disease, but only 43 % of the time during inactive phases.

In addition to the detection of histone antibodies, the confirmation of ssDNA antibodies is helpful for the differential diagnosis of drug-induced lupus. ssDNA antibodies are detected in over 50 % of these patients. Antibodies against ssDNA are also found in patients with other collagenoses and juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA).
