Anti-Elastase is an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against elastase in human serum or plasma.
These autoantibodies are particularly common in patients with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases and autoimmune hepatitis.

Elastase is a serine protease. Its proteolytic effect plays a role in the destruction of tissue that is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and pulmonary emphysema. Like autoantibodies against myeloperoxidase (MPO), elastase autoantibodies are antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies, which evince a perinuclear fluorescence pattern (pANCA) in indirect immunofluorescence. Serum samples that display such a pANCA pattern but give a negative Anti-MPO ELISA result should be tested for autoantibodies against elastase, as well as antibodies against cathepsin G, lysozyme, and lactoferrin.
