Anti-Sp100

Anti-Sp100 is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against soluble nuclear protein Sp100 in human serum or plasma. It is used when primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is suspected.
Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is primarily indicated by the detection of AMA-M2 antibodies. However, in some PBC patients, these AMA are absent. In such cases, SP100 antibody detection is a very valuable tool in the diagnostic kit.
At 95 %, the diagnostic specificity of Sp100 antibodies toward PBC is very high; they are very rarely detected in patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) or primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). The simultaneous detection of AMA-M2 and Sp100 antibodies is highly specific to PBC.
