Anti-SLA

Anti-SLA is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against soluble liver antigen (SLA) in human serum or plasma. It is useful in the diagnosis of liver disease, particularly when autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is suspected.
Antibodies against SLA (soluble liver antigen; Synonym: liver pancreas antigen, LP) are often found in conjunction with ASMA, ANA, or LKM-1 antibodies. If these tree typical AIH antibodies are absent despite clinical presentation of AIH, the isolated detection of SLA antibodies takes on special diagnostic significance. In addition, SLA antibodies are indicative of a more severe progression of autoimmune hepatitis.
