Anti-Gliadin
The protein gliadin is a component of gluten, a mixture of proteins found The protein gliadin is a component of gluten, a mixture of proteins found in many types of grain. A permanent intolerance to gluten is the cause of celiac disease, which causes villous atrophy and an associated reduction in the absorption of nutrients.
Anti-Gliadin titers correlate with the inflammation and with the condition of the mucous membrane of the small intestine. A gluten-free diet results in decrease in the antibody titer and thus leads to a remission of the disease.
