Anti-gp210
Anti-gp210 is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against nuclear glycoprotein 210 (gp210) in human serum or plasma. It is used in suspected cases of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
Glycoprotein 210 is a component of the nuclear pore complex. Autoantibodies against gp210 are highly specific to primary biliary cirrhosis and indicate an unfavorable prognosis for the PBC patient.
The primary diagnostic marker for PBC is AMA-M2 detection; however, AMA are absent in some patients. In such cases, complementary detection of antibodies against gp210, Sp100, or centromere can be diagnostically helpful.
Antibodies against gp210 are very rarely also found in patients with autoimmune hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyositis, or Sjoegren’s syndrome.
