Anti-LKM-1
Anti-LKM-1 is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against liver kidney microsome type 1 (LKM-1) in human serum or plasma. It is used to support the diagnosis of liver diseases, particularly in cases of suspected type 2 autoimmune hepatitis.
The detection of autoantibodies plays a central role in the diagnosis of liver diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), and sclerosing cholangitis in adults and children. Anti-smooth muscle antibodies (ASMA), anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA), and liver-kidney microsome antibodies (anti-LKM-1) are indicators of type 1 or 2 AIH, and may also be found in cases of de novo AIH after liver transplantation.
